Stop me if you heard this one: A man makes a career of lecturing others about sin and portraying himself as pure and saintly. In 1988, attempting to get in front of an impending scandal, Swaggart confessed to… well, nothing particularly specific, but it eventually came out that, as night follows day, he had been caught cheating on his wife with a prostitute. He was punished (well, not very hard, but there was an appearance of punishment), and went on with his life, presumably having learned a lesson.
Or not.
He was caught again, with a different prostitute, a little over three years later. Because scumbags gonna scumbag.
