On January 7, 2026, Renée Good was shot and killed by ICE agent Jonathan Ross on Portland Avenue between East 33rd and 34th Streets in the Central neighborhood of Minneapolis, MN.
Pretty much everything else about the incident is disputed, mostly by Trump government officials who were quick to label Good a terrorist, to claim that she had injured Ross or other ICE agents, and to generally do their level best to blacken her name and paint her as the villain here.
Every last one of these claims is refuted by the multiple videos of the exchange between Ross and Good leading up to her death, including the video taken by Ross himself on his own phone – although the body cam footage legally required to be filmed by Ross and other agents has not been released. The videos show what appear to be multiple violations of official procedure by Ross, such as ordering Good to get out of her car (which ICE agents do not have legal authority to do). The FBI is ‘investigating’ the shooting, and shutting out local police from their investigation. No charges have been laid against Ross, who remains in the field at the time of writing.
